Death & grief resources
When Mum Died and When Dad died are both in the Books Beyond Words series, that take an honest, straightforward approach to death and grief. They can be used to support counselling. There is also advice for support staff & carers of people with learning disabilities, plus info on useful written resources & organisations. Books Beyond Words

Surrey Health Action has produced some really useful easy read resources on subjects like going to the doctor's surgery, going to hospital, and easy read appointment letters. You can download them here

Going into hospital – easy read

How to complain – easy read

Books Beyond Words for depression
There are two new titles in the Books Beyond Words series, designed to help people with learning disabilities, who are suffering with depression. Sonia's Feeling Sad by Sheila Hollins & Roger Banks; and Ron's Feeling Blue by Sheila Hollins, Roger Banks and Jenny Curran.

Asthma resources
You can download free easy-to-read resources from Asthma UK for people with learning disabilities who have asthma. These include an information booklet, an asthma attack card (listing what to do in an attack) and an inhalers card, reminding people when to take their inhalers. www.asthma.org.uk

CHANGE Cancer books
The CHANGE Cancer book series covers symptoms, screening and staying healthy; diagnosis and treatment and Palliative care. They are free and designed to be accessible for people with learning disabilities. More info
